Do I need a new base when I purchase a new mattress?

We recommend purchasing the mattress and base together. Each mattress has a corresponding bed base. Browse our website to view our full range.

Does a king mattress come with one base?

Our king-size mattresses are supplied with two single bases so that there is additional support in the center of the mattress. A king-size base is also split into two single bases for convenience.

Why is my mattress “too firm” when receiving?

A mattress is like a new pair of shoes and usually has a break in period of 30 days - 90 days. The new foam and spring materials in your mattress needs to be worn in to achieve that sweet spot of comfort.

Why is my mattress harder than it was when I tested it in the store?

Keep in mind that the mattress in the store has been there for a while and has already been broken in. They are often being tested out by a variety of customers per day, and are therefore not an exact comparison of what your bed will feel like immediately once you have purchased it.

Where is the extra-length mattress protector?

A mattress protector is used to protect your mattress from any stains, spills or oopsies. All our mattress protectors are made to fit a standard and extra length mattress.

My sheet doesn't fit my new mattress

Mattresses come in different heights, depending on the brand and comfort level. Please refer to the product specifications online or speak to your sleep expert in-store/online, to confirm the height of the mattress.

What type of base is best to use with a pocket spring mattress?

A solid bed base should always be paired with a pocket spring mattress. A slatted base will not support the weight of the mattress and will void the warranty.

On a slatted base (Sleigh bed) a solid Masonite board should be added to create additional support.

Why is a king bed set supplied with two single bases?

A king mattress is supported by 2 single bed bases. Using two single bed bases with a king-sized mattress is a common practice recommended by many mattress manufacturers. This provides:

  • Enhanced Support: Distributing the weight evenly helps prevent sagging and ensures adequate support.
  • Improved Stability: Two bases side-by-side provide increased stability, reducing movement disturbances.
  • Customized Comfort: Allows for independent firmness levels, ideal for couples with different sleep preferences.
  • Ease of Movement: Due to South African standard door requirements, most bed manufacturers do not create standard king size bed bases as it is a solid item with no stretch. Unlike a mattress, which can be maneuvered between narrow door frames.
